What is this Camp Kinchen ? ? On September 7, 1936, Member Dewitt Kinchen drowned while boating with some friends on Norris Lake. Out of respect for the deceased member, the camp was named Camp Dewitt Kinchen. We will rename the camp formally on the weekend of April 14 as we celebrate the 75th Birthday of Tennessee State Parks. Not that we will ever forget Scoutmaster Sam Alexander from Norris that used the camp for over 25 years and the thousands of young boys that grew through his experiences.
The camp was also know as 494th Company Camp and TVA-45.
