Camp Dewitt Kinchen—Camp Sam

What is Camp Kinchen ?? On September 7, 1936, Member Dewitt Kinchen drowned while boating with some friends on Norris Lake. Out of respect for the deceased member, the camp was named Camp Dewitt Kinchen. We rededicated the camp on April 14, 2012 as we celebrated the 75th Birthday of Tennessee State Parks. Not that we will ever forget Scoutmaster Sam Alexander from Norris that used the camp for over 25 years and the thousands of young boys that grew through his experiences.

The camp was also known as 494th Company Camp and TVA-45.
